honeysuckle

every time i see honeysuckle
i remember winnie the pooh and his voice...
the scene i really love:
he's stuck in the front door (hole) of rabbit's house,
and is almost to starve...

and it just smells so sweet..

kanga:  pooh, roo has a little surprise for you.
roo:  flowers!
pooh:  honeysuckle!
        [pooh tries to eat flowers]
kanga:  no, pooh, you don't eat them. you smell them.
pooh:  oh...

(from 'the many adventures of winnie the pooh' 1977)

mother's day

pruned lavender, thrown in a old flask.

this weekend i just had time to take care of my greens.

enjoyed and soothed myself.
turn over the soil to sow new seeds for summer
not perfectly i take care of my small kitchen garden
but it's good to see how they grow up.

at night my kids gave me some gifts.

(i was almost getting sleep)
my daughter made icy dessert with fruit and basil seeds
like one called che in vietnam

and from me to my mother in law.
(and to my mum, a wooden hair brush)

greens in nagano

fresh newly budding greens everywhere
i've been to nagano this spring again.
not so many days we had, though
i enjoyed every moments walking among.

here's one dish i often cook these days;
steamed and oiled greens
today with rape blossoms called 'norabo'
from my parents' kitchen garden
late season for it, so a bit hard but crispy.

this was served at a bakery
which i visited and had lunch in nagano.
a wonderful place in a far country side near komoro.
where breads are baken in stone-piled oven.

the oil is also from rape seeds
grown organically in nagano and pressed slowly.
i got it at the bakery shop also.
